Nostalgia is already setting in as we wrap up the end of another incredible summer season here at the club. We’ve certainly seen lots of rain but we’ve see a lot of sunshine, too and the club has been thriving. In July, the club hosted the Stars & Stripes Golf Outing, the Women’s Golf Invitational, the Fourth of July Beach Party, Wine & Tapas, tennis mixers, sailing and our annual summer Carnival, at which the clouds were threatening but the rain held out.

July turned into August before we knew it and we saw the sailors take over with regattas and lessons for the juniors, as well as the Flying Scot Mary Queen of Scots Regatta and 210 Nationals. The tennis courts hosted a number of mixers and tournaments, including another successful GLCC Junior Tennis Championship and several junior’s matches against neighboring country clubs!

Speaking of the kids, GLCC’s Kid’s Camp has been an even bigger hit this summer. The kids spent their summer days splashing around in the lake, running around the playground and participating in all kinds of activities—even baking!—in the Platform Tennis Hut. Adding to the daily fun were visits from special guests such as the Western School of Aviation, the Mad Scientist and the Kalamazoo Nature Center.

Finally, we can’t forget the Hully Gully Rock N’ Roll! The Redline Band was back again and, after an amazing meal, everyone was rocking late into the night and having fun. It was definitely an exciting party and we’re already looking forward to next year.

The season is winding down and we sincerely hope that everyone had a great summer. The good news is that the end of summer ushers in the fall and, with it, all of those uniquely autumnal activities we always look forward to. Speaking of which, Social members’ unlimited golf privileges begin September 22nd! For details on some of our upcoming events, be sure to check out the Social Events section of your Gull Post.

At this time of year, we always like to take a moment to recognize all of the hard work and dedication of our committee members. It is their passion, engagement and dedication that keeps Gull Lake Country Club moving forward and we would like to thank them for their many contributions to the club’s success.

It is not too early to start thinking about the holiday season, either! The fall season always means a switch in gears with our minds shifting to school, sports and the increased pace of everyday life so now is the perfect time to start planning your holiday events. GLCC has the ideal setting for all your entertainment needs. We are also able to cater any size holiday party at your home or business. Feel free to contact Mike at 629-9714 or mrossen@gulllakecc.com if you have any questions.

Finally, don’t forget to mark your calendars for our Annual Board Meeting, which will be held on Thursday, December 5th. The entire membership is invited. Come out to hear about the future plans for your club.

It has been quite the summer and quite the year. We have had a 10% increase in the addition of new members year over year and we hope to see GLCC continue to grow at this rate. Thank you for making this a great summer! We look forward to seeing all of you out enjoying the Club!
