The sailing season is drawing to a close. Kids are back in school, trees are shedding leaves, boats are finding their way back onto their trailers for winter storage...AND...the ice boaters have started their monthly meetings! The "Round the Island" series has been completed, the Collegiate Boudeman Championship is close and the final event, the GLYC Awards Banquet is a few days after the Collegiate Boudeman. The docks are scheduled to come out shortly as Gull Lake returns to a quiet state.
The summer season has gone by too quickly once again! And, once again, I didn't get enough sailing in when it came time to pull the winter cover on my boat. The GLYC summer programs seemed to go very well. The Junior and Adult programs had good numbers, various fleets were happy with their summer series results. The Wednesday night racing is on the increase, while the Sunday racing stays fairly constant.
So, as we put the summer toys away for 2014, GLYC starts planning for the summer 2015. I am very happy to report that Mike MacQueen will be retuning as head Junior instructor to continue the great things he has brought to the kids of this club. The Adult Instruction program already has 4 students signed for 2015. These are positive indications for next summer programs.
Your GLYC Board will continue to meet over the winter months to review the past and plan for the future. If you have any comments, ideas you would like to send along, please send to my attention.
The trees are just beginning to peak, sunsets are beautiful, it's a great time to enjoy an early relaxing dinner and stroll the quiet grounds of YOUR club on beautiful Gull Lake!
