The courts were packed this summer with all ages and levels enjoying the great game of tennis. The club’s participation was the highest it has been in my three summers here. Thank you to everyone for joining me on court and making it a fun summer! The cooler weather allowed us to be on court longer and enjoy every day, but it is not too late to pick up your tennis racquet during the fall season and keep working on your tennis game. I am available for as long as the weather stays nice to continue tennis lessons out here at GLCC.
The junior classes brought a lot of energy to the courts. I saw improvements in every player in the program and I can’t wait to see what next year brings. Over the summer, the juniors played in four tennis matches against BCCC and KCC and we had the most kids at every match. The excitement on court didn’t stop there, with over 115 kids in the program we had a full Junior Club Championship and 40 players in our Parent/Child tournament. Thanks to everyone that competed this summer.
The Men’s Monday night tennis league had another great season. A big thanks goes to Dan Rackiewicz for organizing and filling all four courts during every week this summer! Our cardio tennis classes were also rocking all summer long to the fun songs of the 80s. If you haven’t been able to get out and try a game of Pickleball, make sure to contact me and I will get you set up to learn the popular game.
Can you believe that it is time to start thinking about platform tennis? I can’t believe it is almost here. The kick-off mixer will be on Friday, October 17 from 6pm-8pm! The platform lesson and league schedule will be emailed out soon. Make sure to let me know if you are looking for a new paddle. Sleeves of balls will always be available for sale in the GLCC front office.
