Boast are going into winter storage, beach furniture has been stacked away, and docks have been removed. The GLYC Awards Banquet was held on Wednesday, October 21st with 51 sailors and significant others in attendance. The food was good, socializing great, and business short! The budget is sound. The Junior and Adult sailing classes were highly successful were highly successful. The election of 2016 GLYC Officers was unanimous: Melinda Titus (Secretary), Bill English (Treasurer), Bill Hawk (Vice Commodore) and Tom Lechota (Commodore).

The winners of the Yacht Club sponsored Holiday Handicap, the Doolittle Overall Handicap series, the 20104 Bob Boudeman Club Championship, and "Round the Island" fall series, were all presented their awards. The nominated awards were presented next. These awards highlight the accomplishments of individuals above and beyond. The awards are named in honor of significant Yacht Club member contributions and special talents they provided to the Yacht Club. Those nominated follow in their footsteps. Congratulations to all of the 2015 award winners! Business complete, the goal of the evening was a last party in memory of the racing summer of 2015 and recognize those who proved outstanding! The socializing continuted after the awards ceremony with emmbers still present when the staff began locking up the building for the night and just like that the summer of 2015 became a memory!

Now the planning for 2016! The calendar has been penciled in and the program reviews begin but the Boat Bar doesn't close for the winter! It remains open Wednesday-Saturday with Sunday brunches every month. Seating is not as much of an issue as in the summer months and is a great place for a winter party or a quiet, leisurely dinner. Keep an eye out for Michelle's weekly updates for special events here on beautiful Gull Lake, even in the winter! Ice Boaters are anxious for ice! The Swap Meet is scheduled for Saturday, November 7th. Hey, what do you think of a swap meet for soft water sailors in the spring?!!

Fair winds and following seas!
