Although it is not looking promising for a St. Patrick's Day golf event this year, we certainly do have a lot of excitement happening around the golf course for the upcoming season.

First of all, we have a new assistant professional joining us for the 2015 season and hopefully years to come! His name is Josh Burt, he comes to us from Eagle Eye/Hawlk Hollow in the Lansing area. Josh has an extensive teaching background, has been running large junior programs and is quite the player. We are excited to have him on board. Our starter Dan is also beginning his quest to become a PGA professional and has begun his journey on the program! We will have 3 staff members this year who will be available to give lessons, which is really exciting for us, there will be no better time to get your game tuned up!

The PGA Show was yet again an eye opening experience. I was lucky enough to attend a few seminars while in Orlando, hearing Michael Breed as well as Jason Dufner. I also spent a significant amount of time working with the team at Titleist regarding fitting and the new 915 product that launched late last year. The golf shop will begin filling up in mid March and will continue to add new products throughout the season. Titleist will yet again be offering the locker stuffer program (buy 3 dozen personalized Prov1 or Prov1X and get 1 dozen free!), we will be sending out emails regarding this program as soon as we get the start date!

Hopefully we will get the big thaw soon and the new tees will be ready to play on, we cannot wait. As soon as possible the GAM will be coming out to measure and re-rate the golf course, the golf committee will be collecting scorecards and we will be getting new scorecards hopefully by early summer. The new changes will do wonders to the course and make everyone's experience a more pleasurable one. We also have a brand new fleet of Yamaha golf carts for the season, we cannot wait to get them. They will be a huge improvement from the carts of the past.

We will be expanding our Junior Golf Program this summer for the golfing members of the club. We have clinics, drop in programs, as well as camps and leagues planned! Stay tuned for the summer programming for the details of the improved program.  That being said, a big shout out to our own Max Vandermolen, who has been spending this winter traveling all over the country playing in junior golf tournaments, placing top 5 in each event he has played to date! Max is playing in the US Kids Golf Tournament Series. Way to go Max! Parents of golfing members, please reach out to the golf staff if you are interseted in getting your child involved in junior golf at a higher level. Once again we will be participating in the PGA Jr. League program and look forward to a great summer for players of all levels!

We have a great summer planned here at GLCC, the snow cannot melt fast enough. As always, thank for you the continued support of the golf programming here at the club and we look forward to taking care of you, your families, friends and guests!
