Dear Members,

What an amazing summer! The golf course certainly had its challenges with water, trees and anything else Mother Nature could throw our way, but Jesse and his crew always came out on top! The course remained in amazing condition for the entire season. Although our leagues officially come to an end the last week in August, we will continue to run a $5 game for the men on Tuesday afternoons and continue to put events together for the ladies on Tuesday mornings as well.

We had an amazing championship week once again with Joanne Ganger capturing the Women's Club Championship title and Jason Ryan taking down a strong field to win the Men's Club Championship. Also, for those of you who are not aware, our own Max VanderMolen competed in the Jr. Golf World Championships in Pinehurst, NC. Max and his father, Jim VanderMolen, were winners of the Parent-Child Tournament and Max put together a strong finish in the tournament. Max has also qualified for The Drive, Chip & Putt regional event which will be held in Chicago and with a strong finish he could be on his way to Augusta National to compete in the finals the week before The Masters. Way to go, Max!

The Golf Shop continues to receive regular shipments of Vineyard Vines, Adidas, Straight Down, Dunning and Greg Norman apparel for both men and women. We have some really great fall gear coming in so be sure to stop by and pick up some great clothing for the fall season. New clubs from Titleist, Taylor Made & Callaway are being introduced later this fall so keep your eyes out for those as well.

The measuring, slope and course rating has been completed. The golf committee will be hard at work getting the holes handicapped and we will have new scorecards for opening day!

In the coming months, you will see a new initiative created by the Gull Lake Country Club Board of Directors. The initiative will be regarding memorial and honorary trees around the course. If you have been wondering what many of those blue stakes around the golf course are, they are specified areas where new trees will be planted. These areas have been studied and selected by our course architect, Chris. As everyone has noticed with his great work with the tees, the new trees will have a similar impact. Trees will be available to purchase with varying prices, species and sizes. Please contact the golf staff directly with any interest or questions regarding this program.

Just because summer is coming to an end doesn't mean the golf season is ending. Fall in Michigan offers some of the most spectacular golfing conditions and with the changing colors and crisp temperatures, it is not something to miss. We look forward to an amazing fall. Once again, thank you to the entire membership for making Gull Lake Country Club such a special place.
