Dear Members and Friends,

This has been a fabulous fall season at the club with unseasonably warm weather and plenty of golfing days that many of you were able to take advantage of. It was so nice to see many of you continue to play this fall and improve your games. The 2017 season at GLCC was a very fun and exciting season at the club with many different and unique events taking place throughout the year.

Aerification time has come and gone and Mother Nature smiled down on us again with the entire process only taking three weeks! Aerification holes on the greens were already more than half filled in after only 7 days and completely healed in 10 days. As always, we thank you for your patience and understanding during this time of year. This is a necessary part of the maintenance program, and you can expect putting green conditions to be outstanding in the spring and throughout the 2018 season.

The grounds staff is in full leaf cleanup mode. The irrigation system will be winterized soon and our snow mold applications will be made in the next few weeks. We are also in the process of shifting gears to winter activities here at the club along with some winter projects out on the course. Your golf course is in wonderful shape and we hope you can make it out to enjoy some golf yet this fall.

Do you ever wonder what happens on the golf course when you’re not around? Maybe you would just like to educate yourself more on the science behind what it takes to keep turf conditions at a championship level daily. Check out our Twitter feed (@GLCCTurf) for a behind the scenes look at the maintenance that takes place at your club, with pictures, short videos and detailed information to help you better understand the art of turfgrass science.

Come out and enjoy your club this winter as we are working on some fun and exciting winter activities for your enjoyment. As always, if there is anything my staff or I can do to make your experience here at the club more enjoyable, please don’t hesitate to call. See you all around the club this winter!

Best Regards,

Jesse Shaver
