It was a busy summer on the tennis and pickleball courts. Thank you to everyone for joining the staff and I on court and making it such a fun summer! It’s not too late to pick up your tennis racquet or give pickleball a try during the fall season. New this fall, I will be running adult and junior programming full time until we have to switch to platform tennis. Junior classes will run after school along with adult pickleball, cardio tennis and drop in tennis drills. I am very excited to kick off the fall session.
The junior classes brought a lot of energy to the courts this summer. I saw improvements in every player in the program and I can’t wait to see what next year brings! Over the summer, the juniors competed in four tennis matches against BCCC and KCC, and they played five practice matches against each other. The excitement on court didn’t stop there, the juniors worked hard in class all summer and with over 128 kids in the program, we had a very competitive Junior Club Championship. The winners are listed below along with the most improved players and two players who had exceptional sportsmanship during the club championship tournament. Thank you to every junior that played tennis this summer.
Members have been very busy playing pickleball this summer. We have all levels at the club and it is always fun to see new people give it a try and then quickly see why it is the fastest growing sport. Congratulations to Sherwood Boudeman and Randy Johnson on winning the top flight in the August pickleball tournament. Joel and Shannon Carr won the second flight. If you are looking for a new paddle, please contact me. I will have paddles for sale year-round.
